Citation (Bull Lea x Hydroplane) was the eighth American Triple Crown champion and one of only two major North American Thoroughbreds (along with Cigar in 1994-96) to win 16 races in a row in major stakes competition. Citation still holds the record for earning the most stakes races in a year, with 17 in 1948. Owned and bred by the fabled Calumet Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, Citation is considered by Blood Horse magazine to be the third greatest racehorse in history, behind only Man o' War and Secretariat. He was also the turf's first millionaire! Artist Heather Rohde has captured the strength of Citation in this fine portrait, now available in select limited editions created from her original art. Quote on bottom of piece reads: "His was the precision of a well-oiled machine, the power of a tidal wave. To be sure, he would have few equals in any generation." You can buy Citation either unframed or framed under glass in a deluxe brown wood designer frame with an antique white mat. Read to hang on your wall right out of the box! Your Citation horse racing art is hand signed and numbered by the artist and is of exceptional quality. A Certificate of Authenticity is included. Make Citation a part of your horse art collection today!
