One of Calumet Farm's greatest champions, Whirlaway (Blenheim II x Dustwhirl by Sweep) won the Triple Crown in 1941 and captured the Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year for 1941 and 1942. He won more than half of his 60 races! Blood-Horse magazine ranks Whirlaway as the 26th top U.S. Thoroughbred champion of the 20th century. Whirlaway retired as the world's greatest money earner, and later sired excellent horses such as Scattered, Whirl Some, and Dart By. Whirlaway was elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1959.
