Nicknamed "The Fox of Belair", this unusually beautiful horse was the first American Thoroughbred to be recognized as the world's leading money winner and the only Triple Crown champion to sire a Triple Crown champion (Omaha). It was joked that during a race, Gallant Fox would easily win over horses coming up on the outside because they would spook when they saw his blue eye! In the year he won the Triple Crown (1930) with legendary jockey Earl Sande, Gallant Fox set a single season earnings record that stood for 16 years.
